Ok, so Oscar had a blood test on August 26, 2006. At that blood test, her glucose was 180 (normal 64-170), and her ALT was 118 (normal 10-100). The vet said for cats, if they are under stress, the glucose level would be a little bit high. Normally, for high glucose, it means the cat is either diabetics or hyperthyroid. By the way, Sally was hyperthyroid, so I know enough about it I know for sure that Oscar isn't hyperthyroid. So the vet wanted a recheck 2 months later.
Oscar went back in for another blood test on 10/30/2006. The vet got busy and didn't call me. So I called them today, 11/1/2006 and asked about the statue. Dr. M picked up on the phone so I got to talk to him. Seems like everyone knows Oscar is a "she" now! I guess Oscar is famous. Dr. M even commented on Oscar's backpack when we were there on Monday. I think Dr. K, Dr. M's wife, had told him about the backpack.
Anyway, this time around the glucose is 140, ALT is 53. So I guess Oscar isn't nervous this time! Dr. M did say that Oscar needs to be monitored closely since she is getting up there in age. Just thought I pass this note around for people who are wondering how Oscar is doing. Overall, Oscar is doing fine. Oscar had a little visit with her look like cousins Mimi and Cookie on Monday. Oscar is still enjoying the fact she is an only child.
PS. Oscar had a blood test done back on 10/6/2004. Back then, her glucose was 93, the ALT was 34. I am still unclear what exactly the value means, I guess I will do some search online.
Oscar: Some more shelter kitties. There are about 50 cats living there now. They were everywhere!
Oscar: According to mommie, I have gotten fat! How can that be, I have to watch my model figure. Apparently mommie felt sorry for me so she has been giving me a few extra kibbles in addition to my well-deserved canned food. So now mommie says I feel like a 10lb cat. I have to loose weight back to my model figure.
Oscar: By the way, those cans are special. They are the ones that auntie brought back from Taiwan just for me. The cans contain real chicken! YUM

Oscar: Yes, food does fall from the sky! At least that is how I believe in my mind. Mommie tried to get me to do some tricks for food yesterday. I refused to do any of them until she scooped up my dry kibbles and put them in my food bowl.
Oscar: It is getting really cold around here. I started sleeping under the covers again. And then I get all dazed when I wake up since I can�t see or hear when I am under the covers. By the way, yesterday when mommie finished talking on the phone, she threw the phone down on the covers. That would normally be perfectly fine, except I was sleeping under the covers! The phone hit me and I woke up from my nap all confused. Bad mommie!
