| Friday, October 8, 2004 This morning I took Mercy to the pet supply store to get more dog food. I decided to get regular adult dog food again (rather than the light formula) because I think she will stop the weight gain once we start exercising again. And I got her a turkey-leg-shaped Nylabone. I think in the long run, the Nylabone will be cheaper than the Greenies. At the store, there were 5 cats and kittens there running around today. Mercy sniffed one of them for a few seconds, but ignored the rest of the cats. There were three dogs (from two different families) who came in just before we were about to leave. I think all three dogs were Shih Tzus. One of the dogs was loose running around. The first time the dog came running around and sniffed Mercy, Mercy pretty much just ignored her/him. But the second time, Mercy barked at the dog. Mercy didn't get to meet the other two dogs (who were on leash), Mercy tried to walk towards them, but the owner of the two leashed Shih Tzus was a little hesitant, so I pulled Mercy back, but Mercy was okay with it, and didn't bark at the other two dogs. In addition to the ink pen fetish, Mercy now likes to chew on adhesive tapes, packing tapes to be exact. So yesterday I went around the apartment and put all the tapes in the drawer. Good thing she doesn't know how to open cupboard doors and drawers. |
Mercy chewed several holes on the IQube, so I had to throw it away. But she still has lots of other toys that she likes to play with. | |||||||||||

| Saturday, October 9, 2004 Mercy and I walked two miles on the bike trail next to the state park. It was cloudy and the temperature is not warm, so it was a perfect day to walk with a dog. We only saw three people on the trail, I guess most people were either at the stadium or at home watching the football game. When we passed by a German Shepard and a Shepard mix on leash, everything was okay, Mercy even stayed right next to me, but then the Shepard mix growled at Mercy, and Mercy growled back. |

| Mercy, Anastasia, and I took a walk on campus on Sunday. They toilet papered the trees near Toomer's Corner. | ||||||||||||
| I could pose Mercy on a pedestal this time because she knows how to "Sit" and "Stay". She also did "Down" while we were walking on the bike trail yesterday and on campus today. Although there weren't a lot of distractions on either days, I think Mercy would learn to do her obedience commands even in the presence of squirrels and other dogs with a few more weeks of practice. | ||||||||||||
