Lexi
Near the end of the walk, I got to walk Lexi a little more.  At their front yard, Lori pointed out a squirrel on the tree.  I didn't think much of it, until Lexi saw it too and ran after it.  So there I was being pulled and had to run after her just so I wouldn't be pulled over.  It's brought back so many memories...Penelope was the same way when she was younger too, about pulling after squirrels (she was a larger Springer too, walked pretty well on leash, until she saw a squirrel; she was very food motivated too), and barking and lunging at other dogs, and like Lexi, I always knew she would never actually attack, but would stop barking when the other dog decided to approach despite the initial barking.  However, unlike Penelope, Lexi actually has some doggie friends, including her "boyfriend", the senior Lab whom she sees at the bus stop.  Before I left, Lori and Erin and Ethan gave me a Christmas present (scented candles) and Christmas card, which has their family picture (including Lexi) on it.
During the middle of the walk, Lori asked me if I need to take a break from walking Lexi, and I said yes.  I mean overall Lexi was pretty good and kept the leash slack, but I had forgotten how different it is to walk a younger and larger Springer.  Next time I'll bring an Easy Walk Harness AND a treat bag with treats.  I asked Lori if Erin or Ethan walks Lexi at all, and she said that one time Erin dislocated her finger, and after that Erin hadn't walked Lexi.  What happened was they were walking in the neighborhood, and they saw a stray dog.  So Lori handed Lexi's leash to Erin and went to get the stray dog.  Lexi pulled toward her mom and jerked on the leash and that's how Erin dislocated her finger.  Lori said sometimes Ethan wants to walk Lexi, and she puts two leashes on and lets Ethan have one.   It was a great weather for walking that afternoon also, not too hot, and not too cold.  Kind of balmy for a December day actually.
