| Wednesday, April 5, 2006 Lexi helped us paint last week and now has khaki ears and behind. It's coming off slowly. We are home on spring break this week and she is getting PLENTY of attention. Ron was walking her last week and she didn't act crazy at all-saves that for me. She got a compliment on Saturday from a neighbor - the pug was not tolerating the kids at a birthday party and my neighbor said "Lexi would never act like that around the kids." That was true, but then again she is around all kinds of kids more than the pug. Haha Lexi is a tricolor Springer right now with khaki color on her fur! It sounds like Lexi has become Daddys Little Girl now too, and indeed shes very well trained and more socialized than a lot of dogs. Saturday, July 8, 2006 I sent Lexi some Fourth of July cookies. Lexi is doing great. She is still more of a singer than a dancer for us. She is enjoying the cookies. I am pretty sure she knows they are from you since she gets so excited when you send her something. She is still eating soap-haven't figured out why. I just close the shower door. She hasn't improved on staying out from under our feet. We have to be really careful when working in the kitchen not to fall over her. If she wasn't such a people-dog, I would have wondered if she was kept outside. We have some down time with just finishing swim team. It kept us away from home and too hot for her to join us for car errands. We don't seem to need to crate her when we leave, even though she likes her crate and goes there anyway. She often puts herself in there when she knows we are about to leave for the day, and sometimes I find her there when we come home, so I just leave it out and open for her. We had a lizard stay with us (in aquarium) while our neighbors moved. He drove Lexi crazy so we blocked off the living room. She is completely fine with men. She is hot and cold about "protecting" me from dogs. She walks great for Ron and sometimes great for me. I usually walk her in the dark when it's cooler and sometimes she sees another dog before I do and starts barking. Other times she walks as well for me as for Ron. She hasn't seen much of her boyfriend Boss since we don't go to the school bus. I think she will be sad in the fall. Part of her routine was slurping the neighbor's coffee, then kissing him at the bus stop. He moved to Charlotte. We are going to CA and the house sitter will stay with her including overnight. They know each other and it will be good for her. I haven't ruled out your offer to keep her some time but I think she will be happy being the only dog and in her own house. We have used the sitter for a few years and she is great. |

| Saturday, July 29, 2006 We just returned from CA. It is hard traveling east-long recovery time. We all seem to be battling some respiratory crud this week to make things worse. Lexi had a great time with the pet sitter-slept together, ate together, sat on her lap, but sitter did admit that she was a handful to walk when squirrels were around! Monday, August 21, 2006 I emailed Lori and told her that Millie showed me Charlottes picture when I was at her lakehouse. Charlotte was Millies former foster and adopted by Lori and her family before Lexi. Either you and I or you and Lexi are really connected because you usually send me a message right around the time she does something really cute that I think you need to hear about. The latest news is that 4th grade offers a choice of band. Erin played her first saxophone notes Saturday and Lexi was right there with her singing along! It is the cutest thing! She is not loving the bus stop, but time will change things. We had a lot of houses turn over on our street this year and the bus stop has a lot of new faces as a result. Her friend Boss is still there but sometimes also a greyhound/shepard (???) mix, a lab mix, and a lab/Springer mix. The lab/Springer is a female with a disposition similar to Lexi-has to protect her mom. Just hearing Char's name melts my heart! I love Lexi, but Charlotte is probably always going to be my favorite! She was the perfect dog from the moment we put her in the car. Lexi is special though because she will grow up with my kids. I am really looking forward to cooler weather=longer walks. I actually prefer the heat, but not to exercise in. Our road is torn up for resurfacing and every time I go out I turn my ankle. Sunday, November 12, 2006 Lexi is having a great time counter surfing. She is headed to the house of beauty for a full grooming on Friday. Our new neighbor girl has really taken a shine to her. No health problems. Still singing with piano, harmonica, saxophone. Tuesday, December 5, 2006 Lexi spent her 2nd anniversary with us helping to decorate the Christmas tree to the sounds of Hilary Duff. When I got to the bottom of the tree to string the lights progress slowed because she spent most of the time on my feet. She wore her Christmas bandana for the occasion. Ron took a good picture we haven't downloaded yet but from the looks of it you are going to think all she does is hang out on the couch! But when it was taken she was enjoying the piano. She still howls along when Erin plays Good King Wenceslaus on her saxophone. Friday, December 22, 2006 I got to their house around 2:30 PM, and Ethan (the son) saw me through the glass door and opened the door for me. Lori (the mom) and Erin (the daughter) also joined us at the door, and Lori called Lexi to come see me (I guess they were in the family room before I arrived). Lexi didn't jump on me this time, but she stuck her nose into the gift bag, like she knew it was for her. Lori said she's been telling Lexi that I am coming to visit, and that Lexi inspects every bag and package that comes through. I kneeled down to pet Lexi, who was still very interested in the things in the bag (a dog toy and a treat bag to use during training; no food), so I asked Lori if I could give Lexi her toy, and she said yes. It's a stuffed pink cat with voice box, that "meows" when pressed. Lexi is very smart, and after I showed her twice how it worked, she kept biting it. |

| There's a big Christmas tree in the livingroom. I asked and Lori said Lexi has been pretty good with tree this year. Then we went into the family room. Lexi was still pretty much focused on the toy, kept biting it, but as Lori and I sat on the opposite ends of the couch, Lexi immediately jumped on and sat right between us. She held the toy in her mouth as I was petting her. | ||||||||||

| As Lori and I were talking, I noticed that Lexi had put the toy down and hadn't made the toy "meow" for a couple minutes. So I took the toy and pressed the voice box, and it doesn't meow anymore. I guess it just shows that Lexi liked the toy a lot. Next time I'll bring another talking toy that's more durable. Then Ethan went over to the dog's toy box and brought out different toys for me to see. They've kept a few that are still intact that came with Lexi on adoption day. He also tried to get Lexi to fetch, she did it a couple times, but I think on that afternoon, she'd rather sit on the couch and get petted. | ||||||||||
| I asked Lori if she still crates Lexi when they are not at home. Lori said that Lexi is very good about going into the crate by herself in the morning when she sees the routine of Lori leaving for work, so she doesn't even close the door of the crate anymore. When she comes home from work, sometimes she finds Lexi sleeping on her and Ron's bed. She said that's what their previous Springer did too. She said, but she will always keep the crate out, because Lexi seems to like it so much, that she would go in there by herself, like it's a secure and comforting place for her. Lori asked about my current foster(Tara), and also Ethan asked about the two small girl Springers I brought with me before on prior visits (Brenna and Keely). | ||||||||||

| Lexi was more eager for pettings from me than the last visit. Lori said it's because she had been busy the past two months, and that day was the first day of the kids' Christmas break, but she will have more time to spend at home in January. | ||||||||||
| But I could tell Lexi keep her eyes on Lori. When Lori left the family room, Lexi quickly followed her. Lori said Lexi follows her everywhere, including into the bathroom. | ||||||||||
