Keely
Last night something funny happened.  Our meal routine is, I put Keely in the bedroom/hallway area, and Tara in the livingroom/kitchen area, separated by babygate, and I put Tara's food down in the kitchen, and then Keely's food down in the bedroom.  I then go back to Tara to guide her to her food, then go to Keely to watch her eat.  Well yesterday, I think Keely had a little more treats while at school, so at first she didn't want to eat.  She walked away from the food and went to look near the baby gate, so I picked up the food and open the gate, and put her food in the fridge (and then put Tara's food in the fridge too, since she didn't finish).  Then I sat down to eat my dinner, with Tara sitting down next to me, in the livingroom.  Usually Keely lies down near us at this time too.  But yesterday afternoon, she went into the bedroom, and after about 2 minutes, I started to hear growling.  I went to see what's going on.  At first I thought she was growling at Anastasia, but the cat was by the window, 8 feet away, not even looking at Keely, and Keely was facing the opposite direction, like she was growling at the wall.  Then I thought, maybe she saw some shadows, because the sun was setting.  So I moved her to the livingroom, but she walked back to the bedroom and growled again.  Then I thought maybe she was staring at the babygate's cardboard box that's against the wall, there's a picture of a dog on it, maybe she was growling at that picture.  I walked her toward the box, she still growled.  Then I picked up the box and put it right in front of her and showed it to her, and she continued to growl.  I thought, this just doesn't make sense!  Then an idea came to me, I walked toward the kitchen and told Keely, "Well I thought you didn't want it anymore, so I put it away", then I took her food out from the fridge and when she saw it, her expression changed immediately, almost like she was relieved.  She followed me back to the bedroom, promptly finished the food, and went back to the livingrom to take a nap.  I think Keely is almost like a person in a way...
I am still amazed each time, to see how relaxed she is with me right next to her while she's eating her meals.  So I know Barbara and Ed have been working with her a lot on it for the past two years.

I gave Keely a bath last night.  She was so good when I was blow drying her, didn't even move, I think she was enjoying the attention.  She did not like my brushing her butt though, so I gave her two strips of dried chicken and she focused on them and let me brush her without problem.
Also I've been giving her some new supplements that I got from the vitamin section of the grocery store: the milk thistle for her liver (Tara takes it too), and lutein for her eyes (Tara took it before too; it didn't stop the progression of her eye disease, but I think it slowed it down).

I used Dremel to grind Keely's nails again on Wednesday night (did it a week before on Thursday).  She was very good.
I saw her scooting on the carpet on Tuesday and Wednesday, so I took her to the groomer's shop again on Thursday before leaving for Birmingham.  When they brought her back, they said that her anal glands are empty.  So I'm not sure why she was scooting on the carpet.  I have not see worms or anything in her poop either.
Millie emailed this morning and said Keely is doing well.  I miss the little girl already!

From Millie, We went out Thursday night and both were asleep when we got back.  Keely likes to sleep on the tile or wood floors, though harder than carpet, they are cooler I am sure.
Friday we went to Anniston to visit friends, were gone from 11-3:30 and both were asleep in the computer room when we got home.  Reminded me of Freck and Dede, they loved to snooze together.
Came to the lake Friday evening.  All still well.  She (with help) got into the pool on the first step only, did not like it and left the scene, though she stayed close by.
She went out about 3 this AM for pee/poop and then was a little too eager (pawing the bed- Craig's side!) again at 6:30AM but did go out and pee/poo and then of course wanted her breakfast. Went for a walk this AM before it got so hot, now everyone has a Sun afternoon nap.  Here at the lake she even lays across the AC vent to cool off.  She is so sweet, so much company.  She and Freck are fine, he even walked by her once and I held my breath he would not fall on her but they were fine.
It has been a real treat to have her.  We love Freckles but you know, he just does not do much and it is fun to have a dog that follows you around and gives you things to laugh about, makes you get up in the morning, enjoys afternoon naps, walks with you, comes to the bathroom to find you, etc etc...

Keely went out to greet her mom and grandmom and was just beside herself with joy.  She was soooo happy to see them.  They came in and Keely sat next to her mom and held her hand the whole time.  Barbara remarked how pretty she looked and what a great groom job you did.  So..... they are on their way home now.

From Millie, Keely got up on the chair where Freck sleeps while I was vacuuming on Monday.  Only time she ever got on the furniture.

Keely's mom called yesterday, she said that for a few days Keely kept bumping into walls at home, but now she has adjusted and learned the layout.  She also mentioned again how beautifully Keely was groomed and bathed, that she was outside gardening yesterday, and Keely was next to her digging the dirt, and she told Keely that she got her pretty clean paws dirty, so she went and washed Keely's feet.  LOL.

From Millie, I am so glad she is home with her mommy, but like you I think about her and miss having her here (except at 6AM!)
