Keely
I took some pictures of Keely, and Barb asked me if I took pictures of Keely standing up, because Keely was lying down during most of the visit.  She stood next to Keely and called her and Keely just looked at her, so Barb decided to use treats.  Barb showed Keely a piece of the dried chicken fillet, Keely stood up, but as soon as she got the treat in her mouth, she sat down again.
Barb said she never worried when they left their previous dogs at the kennel, and Keely goes in there willingly, but she said if it weren't for the growling thing, she wouldn't have doubts about sending Keely to the kennel.  She asked the kennel staff to have Keely sit, down, stay before giving her food, but Keely started growling after coming back.  Then they decided to try just leaving the food out all the time while in the kennel.  Barb said she feels bad putting Keely in a kennel, and she never felt that way with their previous dogs before, it's like Keely's too precious to be put in a kennel, she said.  I told Barb that I would be happy to dog-sit Keely anytime, and she said she wishes I live closer, and that they almost called me last time when they had to put Keely in the kennel.  I told her that I would even be willing to meet them halfway in north Birmingham or something (it's almost exactly 300 miles between my place and theirs), so Keely wouldn't have to be in a kennel.  Barb said she will let me know when they have to leave Keely for a trip (she did ask me a little bit about how Tara does now with visiting dogs; Tara's actually better now she can't see other dogs to get possessive of me, and of course I'm much more vigilant when the dogs are loose together).
Barb told me that she agrees with me that Keely's recent growling incident over food is probably from insecurity, because a lot of changes happened in 2 months over the summer, first Milo the cat moved back in with Erica to Chicago when she graduated from grad school (Barb said it doesn't seem like Keely missed Milo, but she did wonder for a month or so about where the cat went), then they moved the bedroom downstairs, then they left Keely at the boarding kennel when they went on a trip (it's a really nice kennel in the area; I saw on the website they sent me, it was like $35 per day).  Barb said Keely would also pee inside the house for a day or two after they get her back from the kennel, she said that they understand, because they don't take her out potty at the kennel as often, so Keely probably had to do it in the cage, and then have to adjust again when she comes back home.
I asked Barbara if Keely still plays with toys, and she said that yes and that at night after dinner, Keely would run along the kitchen-dinning room area with a dog toy in her mouth, and that she has different favorite toys at different times.
Keely licked my face near the end of the visit, so I think she remembered me.  I only visited for an hour, but I could tell Keely's whole demeanor is much calmer than a year ago and when I fostered her.  I think she knows she's at home and with family.
