| All these toys, just for me?! | Kiwi slept in the crate last night with no problem. She even stayed in there for a while even with the door open. But I think she was really tired last night. | |||||||

| This morning when I was eating my breakfast, Kiwi came up and sniffed it really closely. I told her it's my food and go away. So she just sat down by me. After about five minutes, she stretched out and seemed to be sleeping. Then Anastasia walked by, and Kiwi sat up and growled. I think she was guarding my food, even though she can't have it either. Since she was only growling, I don't think it's a big deal, it's sort of like when Jake first moved in and he growled at my cat for getting near his toys. But it's something for me to be careful about and to see how this turns out. Also, I took out one of Kiwi's OMH treats and showed it to her, with Anastasia in my other arm. Then I had Anastasia sniff the dog treat, before giving it to Kiwi. Kiwi had no problem letting Anastasia sniff her treat while the cat's in my arms. And then after my food was gone, Kiwi and Anastasia were okay again, as you can see from the picture, of them relaxing near each other in the livingroom. |

| I asked Heather if it�s okay for me to call the dog �Keely�, because I keep thinking about the fruit when I say Kiwi. I found the name Keely in www.babynames.com. It�s an Irish name that sounds a lot like Kiwi (Keely was called Kiwi for the first six years of her life, so I wanted to get something similar so she�ll get use to the new name easier). Heather said she doesn�t care what I call the dog. Keely would some time sleep curled up at one corner of the livingroom. | ||||||||
| This morning I went to get Kiwi a bed (Heather told me Kiwi had to be crated the first week, so I wasn't in hurry to get a bed, also I was able to get a bed that sort of fits Kiwi's personality, well, at least a girly bed), and also signed up for a basic obedience class at Petco that will start on Tuesday. The class is refundable until the start of second class, so we'll see how this goes. This afternoon I'm going to take her to the dog park and find out for myself how she is with other dogs. Although it might be a little different to desensitize her than from Brenna, because Kiwi is a little protective of her food. But I'm sure we'll work through it. | ||||||||
