| We had a quiet night. I took Jake and Gracie to the dog park again this morning. Jake now would whine when we turn onto the road where the park's entrance is. We stayed for 30 minutes. I didn't really play fetch with Jake, he appeared to be happy with just carrying the tennis balls around this morning. However I did play fetch with Gracie for about 5 minutes, she liked the Wubba Kong toy. She's still not into retrieving that much, but I think over time with some more positive reinforcement, she might. Also she spent less time following Jake around this morning at the dog park. Actually she ran around by herself a little bit, and then she ran away from him to come to me for petting several times. I think she had started to bond with and trust me more. We also walked the 1-mile trail afterwards. We drove back to the apartment, I dropped Jake off, and picked up Tara. I know she needs her exercise too. So she and Gracie and I walked for 2-miles on campus. After we got home, I packed up Gracie's stuff, and she and Jake and I drove to meet Charlene. About 15 miles into the drive, Gracie curled up and went to sleep on the front passenger seat! I couldn't believe it, finally she's tired! Jake did whine for a couple minutes while in the car, but both dogs were pretty good. Gracie was friendly meeting Charlene and her son Tim, and jumped into their SUV with no problem. It's been a somewhat challenging three days, but I've learned so much about managing three dogs and two cats together in an one-bedroom apartment. I love Gracie's temperament! I'll miss her. Now I'm going home to take a nap. I guess Jake needed a nap after Gracie left also. |
So did Tara. | |||||||

| Thursday, December 27, 2007 I took Jake on a 2-mile walk on campus today. After we got back home, Tara was sleeping on my bed with me, and before I could stop Jake, he got on my bed too, not just sleeping on the opposite side as Tara, but actually got right next to her, and laid his head and front paws on her! I think my heart leaped to my throat at that moment, but Tara didnt even wake up. So I just let them stay that way, took the picture, and told Jake to get off my bed. |

| I finally was able to vacuum the carpet today. I didnt want to try to vacuum when Gracie was here because I didnt know if she would be scared of it. Since she was only staying for 2.5 days, I could easily avoid doing it. I usually try not to vacuum within the first week after I get the animal anyways, unless I know for sure the animal is okay with it; and even if I have to, I would put the animal in the other part of apartment to minimize the vacuum noise. Well, Jake was a little agitated when I was using the vacuum. He didnt freak out or anything like that, but he did jump off my bed when I was vacuuming the livingroom near the bed. | ||||||||

| Jake appeared to be content just carrying the tennis balls around this morning. | ||||||||
| Tara plays with my cat slippers sometimes too. This time shes using it as a pillow. |

| Friday, December 28, 2007 Jakes parents were picking him up later today, but I thought I would exercise him nevertheless, in case his parents are not back on their regular exercise routine yet, since they just got back from their trip. So this morning I took Tara and Jake to the dog park. I knew there wouldnt be other dogs there at the park, so I brought Tara along. It was drizzling a little bit, so I put Taras fleece pajamas on her. |
