Jake

Just went to see Chris again for about 40 minutes this afternoon.  He's much more relaxed around my mom and me this time, did not whine at all.  We took him for a short walk, maybe five minutes, in the neighborhood around the vet clinic, he sniffed the ground and pulled on the leash a little bit.  He also peed and pooped outside.  He has soft stool this time, but not diarrhea.

Brenna and her parents sent Jake a Christmas present, and Jake loves!  Scott, Brennas dad, said Brenna has grown to love tennis balls too, and he thought he would get a tennis toy for Jake also.  Jake chewed on it for full 30 minutes after I gave it to him.
I emailed John and Kate a dog training article.

Patty in Birmingham emailed about Buckley, Buckley is doing well - still coughing quite a bit.  This week will mark his four weeks since the initial HW treatment and we will take him to the vet for his follow-up and final treatment on Thursday.  I will let you know how it goes.

He is such a sweet guy - and has really gotten into the "snuggling" thing.  All I have to do is get my "lounging" pants out of the drawer and he starts barking and getting excited.  He knows those are the "puppy snuggling" clothes.  :)
Then we sat in the car for about 30 minutes, so I could pet and examine him.  He jumped into the car by himself, and I put hydrogen peroxide on the spot on his forehead (the vet tech said the vet said it's not ringworm, just a scar) and also on his neuter incision site.  We just sat in the car, enjoyed the sunshine.  He has really soft fur (I heard puppies have softer fur than adult dogs?) and my mom said he doesn't smell as much as yesterday.  When we went back to the vet clinic waiting area, a little boy about eight years old came over to pet him and he just stood there.  A shepherd mix about Chris' size also walked by, they just sniffed each other on the nose, no other reactions.

We picked up Chris at 7:30 AM.  Mrs. Ravis will come by and take Jake out potty during middle of the day.  Yesterday I told them that Jake is getting adopted, and she said she will miss Jake.  The vet tech said the vet checked Chris this morning and said hes all healthy.  She also said he has finished all his medication (from the Anniston shelter) and she gave me a dose of Advantage to put on him later (she said they dont like to dose the dogs near bath times).  Chris sat in the backseat again with my mom, while I drove and my aunt sat in the front passenger seat.  Chris whined a little bit in the car, but overall I think he has gotten more calm around us, especially with my mom.  I did stop at a rest stop near the Alabama-Georgia stateline, and walked Chris around (I dont think the vet clinic had walked him this morning before I picked him up), and he pooped (very loose stool).  We met Karen at the same restaurant parking lot where I delivered Snoopy to Karen around 10 AM Eastern Time.  Karen said Chris is very affectionate and she thinks he and Channing will have fun time playing together.
I also received the rabies tag and certificate from the Anniston shelter today, and I mailed them to Karen.

Karen emailed to say about Chris, He is really well.  Marcus has to put him in his place a few times as he gets a bit excited.  He loves running with the other dogs and I did not hear a peep out of him last night which I was not expecting.  HE is sooooooooooo thin bless him.  Just been out and got him a Christmas stocking like the other two.  Im so glad that Chris is living in a real home for Christmas.

Dr. Ravis saw me walking Jake on campus this morning, and he called his wife and she said she would like to see Jake again.  When we got to their house, Mrs. Ravis and their daughters, Nicole and Julie, were playing at a nearby soccer field with their FIVE dogs (all over 55 lbs shorthaired young active dogs).  Nicoles baby, Olivia, was also there, but she was in the stroller sleeping.  Nicole has one chocolate Lab, Hershey.  Julie has three dogs right now, yellow Lab Abby, Pitbull mix Junior, and her foster dog, Nate, who is a yellow Lab also (intact male who will be neutered after his heartworm treatment).  There were a lot of actions among the six dogs (we kept Jake on leash because we didnt want him to jump into the creek nearby).  Junior has rubbed his face on some dog poop, and he got some on Jake when they were playing.  Jake and Nate did bark and growl at each other twice.  But Jake got along with all four other dogs with no problem.  We only stayed for about 20 minutes as I had to prepare Jake for his adoption later this afternoon.  When we got home, I gave Jake a bath.
