| Monday, October 31, 2005 Jake started using the Easy Walk (front pull) Harness on Tuesday. So far it's working out better than the Gentle Leader. With harnesses in general, Jake has less urge to pull. He still pulls a little bit, but it's less than when we were using the Gentle Leader. Jake is between sizes, so we went to the pet supply store on Monday night, and the store owner fitted Jake with the Large size one. She said Jake's the first dog she knows who didn't stop pulling even though the caretaker used the Gentle Leader properly. So she thought it was time to try the Easy Walk Harness too, after four months of trying out the Gentle Leader. But when I got home to fit it better, I realized that Jake needs a smaller size in the front chest area. So the next day I went to exchange for the smaller one. Glad I didn't order from online this time. |

| Jake and Anastasias Christmas picture with Santa. Monday, November 14, 2005 Jake's right lip is no longer dry and cracked and bleeding, after about a month on fatty acid supplement that has zinc in it. I guess the vet was right. When we went to Knoxville and he didn't get his fatty acid supplement for three days, his right lip was cracked dry for a few days after we came back. This means Jake needs to take fatty acid with zinc for the rest of his life probably. Fortunately this supplement is not that expensive. I get mine from Drs. Foster & Smith company online, about $60 for about a year worth supply for Jake's size. Behavior wise, I have been leaving the bathroom door open also when I'm not at home, for about three weeks now. Jake is doing fine with full access to apartment when I'm not at home, no pulling paper products and my clothes from the bathroom all over the apartment like he did before. And now Anastasia can use the litter box when I'm not at home too (her litter box is kept in the bathroom). But I still keep the toilet seat cover down just in case. Also, Jake's not pulling on the leash at all when he's wearing the Easy Walk Harness. But when I have to put him on the headcollar when we take long walks, he still pulls. Jake's adoptive family is welcome to take his special harness and collar with him if they want. |

| Jake almost fell flat on his face twice trying to pull on the harness, after that, he pays more attention to me when walking, and less pulling. And he doesn't try to paw it off like he is with Gentle Leader. Only problem with the harness is that, like the instruction manual said, I can't use the harness when I know I have to exercise Jake a lot (can cause chaffing on the armpit area). So I still need to use the Gentle Leader when I know I would be walking him for more than two miles. | ||||||||||||||

| Jake likes any toy that he can play fetch with. He loves to chew on the mini tennis balls that Brennas parents gave to Anastasia. | ||||||||||||||
