| But I emailed her back asking if shes definitely keeping Montana. I just wanted to make sure so I wouldnt have to worry about scheduling a time to pick him up anymore. I also emailed Millie to see if she heard any definitive answer from Molly. Millie said from the email she got form Molly, she thinks they will keep Montana. Millie said that Molly told her that Montana has the full run of the house when they are out, and also he gets to sleep in their bedroom at night. And Montanas so gentle with Hayden that Montana wouldnt even take the cracker that Hayden has in his hand. Millie also told me that I did a very good job as a foster parent and that she will look for another dog for me to take care of. Then on Tuesday after Memorial Day weekend, Molly emailed me about Montana and she also sent some pictures of him. She said they are definitely keeping him. Actually they renamed him Dudley. I think its a very good companion, sidekick type name. This is Dudley looking out into their backyard at squirrels and birds and rabbits from their bedroom window. | Dudley in the backyard looking for critters. Molly said that over the Memorial Day weekend, they went to her in-laws house, and Dudley ate 2 bowls full of their dogs food. So she switched Dudley to their brand of food. Dudleys first dry food with me was Nutro Ultra Puppy formula, and he liked that. Then after he finished that, I got him a big bag of Nutro Mini Chunk. Im thinking maybe the reason he didnt like Nutro Mini Chunk is because it was going to expire soon in October (Virginia said what a spoiled dog, but then her cat would eat anything). The Treadwells also took Dudley on a boat ride. Dudley sat in the front, and she thought it was funny that his ears flapped in the wind. Dudley had fun playing with Mollys in-laws Miniature Schnauzer, and also many neighborhood kids came to play with him also, and she said everybody thinks hes the sweetest dog. They also went to the pet store to get a new collar and tag for him. | |||||||||||

| When I saw this picture that Molly sent me, I almost cried. This is just shows that Dudleys part of the family. So many people abandon their pets when they found out they are pregnant or when their babys born. But in this picture, it seems like they are brothers, sharing the same interest, growing up together, and taking care of each other. I also sent them a CD of all the pictures that were taken of Dudley, and Molly said I could go see him if I were ever in the Knoxville area. | ||||||||||||
| Dudley with Hayden. Molly said that Dudley still chases their cat, Milo. But I told her that Dudley never chased Anastasia. I suggested to her some ways that she could train Dudley to stop bullying Milo around and to learn to share his humans with his feline brother. Dudley is a very smart boy, and hopefully hell get it in two or three days. | ||||||||||||

| Molly with Shep and Montana. | ||||||||||||
| Molly said shes been taking Dudley to her parents house. Her parents have a Golden Retriever named Shep, and Dudley has been playing with the Golden in their huge backyard, and gets this, he gets to swim in their pool! Molly said, At first I was scared he couldn't swim because he seemed confused and almost sank (I was right there holding him), but I think he probably has just never swam before. So after a few times he got the hang of it. We want to work with him and teach him where the stairs are so he could always get out if he fell in. Shep is a big swimmer so maybe watching her will help, too. Molly also said Dudley has been playing fetch with Shep. Finally hes relaxed enough to have some fun. I had been missing him a lot, but now hes got a great family now loves him and takes care of him, and I just cant be any more happier for him right now. | ![]() |

| Another story about Montana. About a week after I got him from the Humane Society, he was biting his tails a lot. At first I thought maybe he had fleas, but later the anal glands secretion smell came out. I waited a few days to take him to the groomer to have his anal glands emptied because I didnt want him to infect any dogs there with kennel cough. Later when we got there, there were two two-month-old kittens running around on the floor playing. At first he was curious and got closer to look and sniff at them, but he lost interest after a few seconds. Rebekah took him back to have his anal glands emptied, and she said that they were full, but he was so good when they were doing it. | ||||||||||||

| June 7, 2004 Last night I had a dream and both Penelope and Dudley were in it. In the dream, I saw a big long-coated liver/white Springer sitting next to the living room window looking outside. At first I thought that was Penelope, and I kneeled down to pet her on the forehead. But then I saw a shaved liver/white Springer leaning against the long-coated Springer, thats when I realized that the long-coated one was Dudley, and the shaved one was Penelope. At first I thought that Penelope was leaning against Dudley to snuggle with him, but then I realize she was actually doing that to tell me to pet her instead. So I hugged her. That was the first time after Penelope died that I got to hug her. I had always felt so bad that I didnt hug her when she died, but last night it was certainly nice to hug her, even it was only in my dream. I miss both of the dogs a lot. And I think Millie was right when she said that Penelope was watching over me when I was fostering Dudley. Dudley went to the groomers today and got a new haircut. Molly said that the groomer is actually a Springer breeder, and he was happy to meet the new dog and said Dudley was very well behaved while being groomed. They shaved part of Dudleys coat and trimmed the rest, but Molly remembered to tell them about Dudleys ear scar, so they didnt cut any hair from that part of the ear. I think now he looks so much younger, and Im sure he feels a lot cooler. And Im glad that his groomer knows what a show Springer is suppose to look like. |
