| Saturday, May 12, 2007 So this morning as Brenna and I returned from our walk I saw what I thought was our mommy bluebird leave the box. I hadn't checked on the eggs in a few days, so I thought I'd just pop the front open and have a quick look. There were still eggs, but there were little yellow beaks raising up wanting me to feed them as well! I couldn't tell for sure but there were at least 3 hatched and maybe a 4'th. There were 6 eggs all together that they laid, so they apparently started hatching yesterday or this morning and aren't finished yet! What a great anniversary present for Michelle this morning! Today is the 4th anniversary of our wedding in Key West. And on the eve of Mother's Day, HOW COOOOOL! |

| Sunday, May 13, 2007 Thought I'd share this triumph with you! The hard freeze of April '07 froze the five eggs that our mommy and daddy Eastern Bluebirds had laid this Spring. After allowing 24 days for the eggs to hatch, it was apparent they were defective. See the attached picture and noticed the line on all the eggs where the egg changes color from Sky Blue to a dull blue. This is where I believe mommy's body was lying to try to keep the eggs warm, but what was exposed froze. So I pulled the nest and eggs to force mommy and daddy to make new ones. |

| Saturday, May 19, 2007 News & Weather, Anyone who looked up after sunset tonight got a spectacular pairing of the sunlit and earthlit moon less than a degree away from the sunlight planet Venus. Enjoy the attached image taken in by me with a 300mm zoom lens on a digital camera and a tripod. (Earthshine is a phenomenon whereby sunlight reflects off of the earth and bounces backwards towards a crescent sunlit moon thereby illuminating the "dark" portion of the moon) |

| I finally got a beak count yesterday, all 6 eggs hatched! This is ONE CROWDED NEST! They are looking more like birds than harry worms now. They are growin' up and will be leaving the nest soon, just like my kids! BTW, the kids have a High School graduation ceremony at their own church tomorrow. | ||||||||
