| And incredibly, I am only sitting less than 10 feet from the feeder while he/she is feeding and snapping these pics! Today marked a milestone. Today was the FIRST time that we ever left Brenna alone in the house with another K9 while we were gone! We were gone 5 hours to church and we decided that Kasey and Brenna were getting along SO WELL that we would not close them up in separate rooms. She passed with flying colors! At least there was no color red anywhere in the house (blood from a dog fight!). Thought you would be proud! Monday, April 23, 2007 We had a bit of an upset morning, as Kasey has had diarrhea since Saturday and this morning she was passing blood with it and throwing up. So we took her to our vet and they ran extensive tests to eliminate pathogens and poisons. All that looked good, thank goodness! What Shelley will have to followup on when she gets back to Michigan is that Kasey's Calcium was excessively high and her phosphorus was nearing excessive low. While our vet said it might possibly be attributed to the diarrhea, she will need to have a blood test in a few weeks to see if those have returned to normal. |

| Friday, April 27, 2007 Attached is the group shot of everyone (and the neighbor) the evening before Shelley left. Duke, the yellow lab (Brenna's latest "boyfriend") is also in the picture with his "dad" James. Shelley, and even more so Kasey, REALLY enjoyed the country setting! I believe Kasey could have easily "disappeared" on a several hour "walk-about" into the woods and fields and would have had the time of her life. Of course, it's probably that wondering where she found something she ate that made her so ill... |

| We bought 2 more hummingbird feeders today! We are really getting quite a show with the feeder we have up, and now 4 birds are fighting over it. So I am going to put up more, including one in front of the window where Michelle does her treadmill. This will be good entertainment while walking in place for almost an hour! | ||||||||

| Also is a picture of our card game with Brenna and Kasey snoozing side by side. Brenna is a bit depressed since Kasey left. She has gone outside looking for her and sniffing all her spots she peed on. She actually growled at Michelle last night and I thought she was going to bite Michelle she was so out of sorts. She wouldn't eat her food this morning for a while. This is typical Brenna behavious when she has bonded so well with a K9 (or human) pal that leaves. She really gets down! But she has recovered somewhat this afternoon as I let her play for awhile with Duke about an hour ago. | ||||||||
| I decided to send a doggie lunch box that Janet gave me while I was fostering Brenna, to Brenna, since Tara and I dont go out together much except the regular walks, whereas the lunch box would be useful to Brenna and her family when they go hiking together. I asked her parents if Brenna remembers the lunch box, and heres what they said, Does Brenna remember the box.....? Well, let me tell you, more than her tail was wiggling when I set it in the floor for her to smell!! Her entire rear of her body was wiggling! Anyway, we had a great visit and Brenna REALLY showed how far she's come by being so close to Kasey! GOOD GIRL!!!! | ||||||||

| Attached are pictures sent from Millie's new home! As you can see she is very settled in. They wrote a nice letter about how she helped complete their family! | ||||||||

| Monday, April 30, 2007 Attached is what one can do when the sun is at the right angle! Brenna just doesn't know what to make of these tiny birds. They hum and fight right over her head as she lays on the deck! Speaking of fighting, at sunset last night I saw a swarm outside that I thought was bees at the feeders. It was instead at least SIX if not SEVEN hummers fighting over three feeders! It was a regular "Friday Night Smackdown"... or Buzz down? I would guess that she thinks they are an insect, given the buzzzz they make. They also click and chirp though VERY loud when fighting, and that REALLY perks her ears up. I just don't know if she really knows what to make of them! It's the first time we've been around them up close in our lives! |
