Here are some tips that would help you do things faster and make things less complicated:

  1. When putting water in the soil, tilt the graduated cylinder a little, so the water will sink to the bottom faster.
  2. Measure the soil first before doing anything else.
  3. Every time when you are observing, record the data on a separate sheet of paper and don't have the paper anywhere around where you are working on the experiment.
  4. Understand the "Soil Texture Triangle" percentages. You should also know how to use the triangle. Remember to use a ruler when using the triangle.
