| Located in West Cobb County, Osborne High School is home to one of the most diverse student populations in the state of Georgia. Approximately 50 countries are represented each school day. It is such diversity that provides our students opportunities that few schools can offer. The cultural exchange our students receive is a fantastic asset that results in a very smooth transition to adulthood. It doesn't take long to realize that language is only a small percentage of the cultural experience. One example of another cultural difference is students that come from countries where there are no child labor laws. This translates into school being not a necessity, but a luxury for these households as students were instrumental in assisting balance the economic scale for the monthly household needs. This is not always an easy pattern for individuals to discard when coming to our country. Osborne is a school that allows and encourages parents and community support in the school on a daily basis. It is not uncommon to see parents in the school providing a variety of services each day. There always seems to be parents in the cafeteria - and people say that teenagers don't want their parents around! Do a couple of things at school anyway and you'll find that the students like having us 'old' people around. Our test scores don't now and may never accurately reflect the amount of learning taking place in the collective student body. For over 1/3 of our students English is not the language spoken at home and the transciency rate is also substantial in our district. However, for the core students that have solid roots in this community, this doesn't alter the solid education provided them in the classroom. Their test scores are equivalent to the surrounding area. Our PTSA has a yearly plan that is patterned after the School Improvement Plan developed by the administration and staff at Osborne High School. It augments the activities that the Staff has determined to be areas of concentration within the school. Working on common goals has proven to be very beneficial for our students enhancing their total high school experience.
