WHAT IS SMAMUN
SMAMUN is an organization that seeks to provide an original look at the functions and responsibilities of the United Nations.
Delegates gain insight into the workings of the United Nations by assuming the roles of UN representatives and by actively participating in the resolution of important global issues. Participants of SMAMUN will interact with other highly motivated college students and work together towards the common goals of international awareness and consensus-building.
SMAMUN is a unique conference that brings together college and school students from Rawalpindi and Islamabad, to simulate various organs of the United Nations and other international organizations. Students have the opportunity to act as delegates in one of 7 committees.
In addition, SMAMUN delegates have the opportunity to engage in simulations of international crises on application committees. Delegates are exposed to the fast-paced world of policy decision-making under pressure, as well as key geo-political and military issues
SMAMUN is dedicated to
providing the youth with substantial and more participative understanding of why
and how the world works. St.Marys Academy will lay host to the first ever such
conference held in Rawalpindi Islamabad. In the years to follow, cities
and universities/colleges will have the honor and responsibility of hosting this
grand event. SMAMUN 2006 will be an event to truly look forward to now and
remember fondly in retrospect for all times to come.
