--- ALOOHA!
_______________________________________
Hello Dear Young Lasallian friends!!!!!
Surprised? Well last month we announced the Worth Link
will no longer be issued and a new e-newsletter will
take its place. Well here it is: Lasallian Youth Link!
We contacted some of you about this name and the
general feedback given was that it is good and a very
appropriate name especially after the Quebec
symposium.
The initial aim of the Worth Link back in 1999 was to
maintain a link between the participants which took
part in the Worth youth gathering as a preparation for
World Youth days 2000. The Worth Link proved to be
very successful and we received a lot of feedback from
you. We would like to thank you all. Thanks to your
comments the Worth Link
was a success.
Change is inevitable. To keep on going forward in line
with our international commitments we decided to keep
the core format of the Worth
Link in this new e-newsletter, however we intend to
give it a more international perspective. This we can
only achieve if contributions are forthcoming on your
behalf.
Well we hope you all enjoy this first edition of the
Lasallian Youth Link.

The above is a link to a letter of Brother Superior to
young lasallians.
"Today, the torch is passed to you young people, and
the future of the Lasallian Institute is, in large
measure, in your hands. I know that you will not let
us down."
Read through this letter and share it with all your

It is clear that the young Lasallians from everywhere
need a better communication among them. This website
has been successfully used for the preparation of the
international lasallian youth leaders meeting which
took place in Quebec in July. We would like to
encourage everyone who is not yet a member of this
group to join.
Membership of this group is NOT RESTRICTED
only to those who participated in the Quebec
symposium.
In this virtual meeting point everyone can participate
and make his or her own view on any topic of interest
to the lasallian youth.
There are a
number of messages which can be seen and useful
documents are found in the files section. The summary
of what happened in Quebec is already available in
French and will soon be available in English and
Spanish.

--- THE LIFE OF A BROTHER
_______________________________________
Formation (Chapter 6- The rule of the brothers of the
Christian schools)
In their schools and in other centers where they
exercise their apostolate the Brothers help young
people to think about their future and to take steps
to prepare for it They present in a clear way the
vocational possibilities to be found in the various
minis tries, in the life of a Brother, and in other
forms of the consecrated life. They do not hesitate to
extend an explicit invitation for this purpose. They
are aware that every vocation requires human
intermediaries to be able to recognize the call of God
and to respond to it.
Each District organizes a Vocation Commission. This
group stimulates the initiative of the Brothers,
supports community action and furnishes
vocational information to those who are in charge of
religious education. In a desire to be as open as
possible, this Commission organizes meetings for
people interested in the pastoral ministry of
vocations.

--- LOVE SHINE A LIGHT

To you all who were in Quebec this July we are sure
you understand why we have chosen this song as the
song of the month following the Symposium.
To the rest of you out there, read the words, listen
and practice so we may all sing together when we meet
again.
Love Shine a Light
http://www.geocities.com/ystradband/shine.html
Love Shine a light in every corner of our hearts, let
the love light carry, let the love light carry
Light up the magic in every little part, let our love
shine a light in every corner of our hearts.
Love Shine a light in every corner of my dreams, let
the love light carry, let the love light carry
Like the mighty river flowing from the stream let our
love shine a light in every corner of our dreams.
And we're all gonna shine a light together - all
shinea light to light the way
Brothers and sisters in every little part, let our
love shine a light in every corner of our hearts.
Love Shine a light in every corner of the world, let
the love light carry, let the love light carry
Light up the magic for every boy and girl, let our
love shine a light in every corner of the world.
And we're all gonna shine a light together - all shine
a light to light the way
Brothers and sisters in every little part, let our
love shine a light in every corner of our hearts.
And we're all gonna shine a light together - all shine
a light to light the way
Brothers and sisters in every little part, let our
love shine a light in every corner of our hearts.
Live Jesus in our Hearts...................Forever.

The Cross of the Poor
Excerpts from a reflection by mother Teresa of
Calcutta
In our way of the cross we Jesus, poor and hungry,
enduring his own falls. Are we there to offer him our
help? Are we there with our sacrifices, with our piece
of bread, of real bread?
There are thousands of people dying for a piece of
bread. There are thousands upon thousands who die for
a little bit of love, for a little bit of
acknowledgement. This is one station of the cross:
Jesus present in those who are hungry and falling
under the weight of the cross.
Today small beings are deprived of love even before
birth. They have to die because we do not want one
more child. That child has to be left naked because we
do not want him.
Jesus bore that unspeakable suffering. This unborn
child bears it because no other possibility is offered
him. But I can want him, love him, care for him. This
child is my brother, my sister.
Jesus told us, "If you want to be my disciples, take
up my cross and follow me." He means that we should
carry the cross and feed him in those who are naked;
that we should host him in our home, treating him as a
brother.
You young people, full of love and strength, do not
waste your energy on useless things. Look and see your
brother and your sister, not only here,
not only in your city or your area. Everywhere there
are human beings who are hungry and who look to you.
There are naked human beings who look
hopefully to you. There are dispossessed people who
look to you. Do not turn your back on the poor because
the poor are Christ.

When I whine......
Today, upon a bus,
I saw a girl with golden hair,
and wished I was as fair.
When suddenly she rose to leave,
I saw her hobble down the aisle.
She had one leg and wore a crutch.
But as she passed, she passed a smile.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have 2 legs, the world is mine.
I stopped to buy some candy.
The lad who sold it had such charm.
I talked with him, he seemed so glad.
If I were late, it'd do no harm.
And as I left, he said to me,
"I thank you, you've been so kind.
It's nice to talk with folks like you.
You see," he said, "I'm blind."
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have 2 eyes, the world is mine.
Later while walking down the street,
I saw a child with eyes of blue.
He stood and watched the others play.
He did not know what to do.
I stopped a moment and then I said,
"Why don't you join the others, dear?"
He looked ahead without a word.
And then I knew, he couldn't hear.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have 2 ears, the world is mine.
With feet to take me where I'd go.
With eyes to see the sunset's glow.
With ears to hear what I'd know.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I've been blessed indeed, the world is mine.
Give your best to the world, and the best will come
back to you. Sorrow looks back, worry looks around,
faith looks up.
