January 6, 2001 Van Morrison
Van Morrison is one of the most important artists who never come to Japan, 'cause he hates to fly by plane for long distances. Perhaps he has a heart problem. There may be few Japanese who have ever seen his shows. The tickets were already sold out. I asked some people, but nobody had any extra tickets, so I bought one from a ticket scalper. I paid $90.00 (the fixed price was $62.20), 'cause I really wanted to see his show. Of course, the theatre was a full house. He and his band played "Domino", "Jackie Wilson said", "Moondance" and also other artists' cover songs like "Georgia on My Mind", "Rollover Beethoven", and last song - my favorite - "Brown Eyed Girl". At first I was worried about him 'cause he was so old, but he had a miraculous voice. I was really surprised at his show and had a good time. I think that he is the best soulful vocalist of white men.
