June 8, 2002   Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers
Roger Clyne was a member of The Refreshments, and two years ago, he organized his new band, The Peacemakers, in his hometown, Tempe, Arizona. They've been performing actively in the US and Mexico, but they're not famous worldwide, so I would like to introduce the band.
The members are Roger Clyne (lead vocal, electric guitar-Fender Telecaster, acoustic guitar, harmonica), Steve Larson (lead guitar, lap steal, banjo), P.H. Naffah (drums) and Danny White (bass). They've produced three CDs. The 1st one is a Heartland Rock album, similar to Springsteen's. The next 2nd is a down-to-earth rock'n' roll live album. The 3rd new album is a kind of Americana, but with a little bit Mexican flavor. I've heard all of their CDs, therefore, I had great expectations about their live show before I saw it. Excessive expectations often let me down, but their performance was more remarkable than I could have imagined.

Autograph
They kept the ball rolling with a lot of songs for two hours and twenty minutes with such favorites as Tow Chain, Easy, Never Thought, Honky Tonk Union, Sonoran Hope and Madness, Tell Yer Momma, Smaller and Better Things, West Texas Moon, My Heart Is UFO, Better Beautiful than Perfect and more. A highlight of the first half was Beautiful Disaster, a most lively number. Everyone in the audience loved it and was gung ho to dance. In the encore, some of the audience requested City Girl, and all attendness were enthused by the band's performance. I saw their set list after the show; the encore was two songs, but actually they did two more songs for the audience. The show was entirely out of this world. This was one of the tip-top performances I've ever seen. This is not so well-known band got me hook, line and sinker. I'm aware that I've found an uncut gem.
