January 31, 2002 Jackson Browne
I went to Jackson Browne's benefit concert "No On Recall". It was the first time I had seen him in 15 months. The tickets were already sold out as soon as they went on sale; therefore I didn't have a ticket, but fortunately I was able to get an extra ticket. My seat position was not so good; it was the 16th row from the stage, but the venue, Lobero Theatre, has only 680 seats, so I enjoyed that night.
At 8:30 pm, Jackson started the show and the first set was an acoustic performance by himself. He played acoustic guitar and keyboard alternately. At the 3rd song, Jackson called his friend, and David Crosby entered the stage to sing with Jackson. Jackson also sang a new song for his fans. After 30 minutes intermission, the 2nd set started. He played two solo songs and then, he called the band members. The 2nd set was a rock band style show. Actually I prefer this kind of style. At the first part of "The Pretender", he made mistakes in singing, and also sometimes forgot the lyrics in the other songs, but the audience watched over him tenderly with giggles. It was a heart-warming spectacle.
The encore song "Doctor My Eyes" was so awesome, especially the unnamed lead guitarist's performance. At the 2nd encore, he played a new song acoustically.
His benefit one-night concerts are not bad, but I'm eager for his new concert tour.
