February 26, 2002   "The Concerts For Artist Rights"
There were five benefit concerts on the same day to raise money to finance artists ongoing fight against the record labels. Alternative (Offspring, No Doubt, Weezerat, etc.) at Long Beach Convention Center, Hard Rock at Los Angeles Sports Arena (canceled), Acoustic (Beck, Eddie Vedder, Mike Ness, etc.) at Wiltern Theatre, Country (The Dixie Chicks, Trisha Yearwood, Emmylou Harris, Dwight Yoakam, etc.) at Universal Amphitheatre, and Pop at Inglewood Forum.
That evening there were lots of traffic jams in L.A.
When I reached the venue, it was almost the last part of Sheryl Crow, the opening act.
(John Fogerty)
The 2nd show was John Fogerty. He was a leader of Creedence Clearwater Revival. I had never seen his live concerts before that night, so seeing his show was my main purpose that night. I had a little anxiety since he was probably over 50 year of age. However, I was very surprised at his performance because it was really powerful and exciting. The opening song was a CCR number Born on the Bayou, and the next one was Centerfield. After that, he changed to an acoustic guitar and played Have You Ever Seen the Rain? and Who'll Stop the Rain. He also played several more enjoyable songs. I was quite satisfied.

(Stevie & Tom j

The 3rd performer was Stevie Nicks, who was a member of Fleetwood Mac.
I wasn't familiar with her songs except for a few famous ones, so I didn't know what to expect from her show.
It was better than I had thought it would be.
During her performance, she called her friend, Tom Petty, on the stage. As he joined her on stage, the audience cheered so loudly that the arena shook!
(Tom Petty)
(Billy Joel)
The next musician, Billy Joel, sang 7 songs...Movin' Out, New York State of Mind, My Life...You May Be Right, Only the Good Die Young.
In his show, Billy's piano and sax player's combination was especially great.
(The Eagles)
The main act was The Eagles. They perfomed 10 songs...Peaceful Easy Feeling...Take It to the Limit etc... The lead vocal was Joe Walsh, Glenn Frey and Don Henley altanately.
In the encore, they played 3 songs. When the stage lights went on again, I heard 12 string guitar's intro. Of course, the song was Hotel California, and the last song of the night was Take It Easy.
The whole concert was almost 6 hours, but no one in the audience ever got tired.
