| I developed an interest in the dog world in 1968 and by 1972 was hooked into the dog show scene with American Cocker Spaniels. It may have been fate as my parents showed and bred German Shepherds for a short period while I was growing up. I bred and showed Cockers for 28 years on a limited basis and finished over 30 but due to medical complications with knee replacements I could no longer present my cockers personally, so I placed them with friends to carry on my lines. I could not get over the thrill I got from being involved with showing, so I watched for a bout 2 years different breeds to see what I could still show without too much burden to my knees. I found it in the Smooths, as they are natural show offs, I instantly fell in love with their love of life and their class. In 1997 I got my first Smooth and from there continued to have the thrill of finishing many Smooths with all being house dogs with limited showing. |
