PASCUAL SARMIENTO STUDY GRANTS
RULES TO GOVERN THE IRENE PASCUAL SARMIENTO STUDY GRANTS
The study grants, which are being donated by Justice ABRAHAM SARMIENTO, shall take effect in the second semester, 1991-1992.
A. QUALIFICATIONS:
An applicant for the study grant shall have the following qualifications:
- must be a bonafide student of the University of the Philippines who is enrolled in any undergraduate degree course, preferably from the Colleges of Pharmacy and Law. If the income of the scholarship fund would not suffice to support the new benefits of the grant, priority shall be given to the College of Law qualified applicant. (Revised 21 June 1996).
- if an entering freshman, must have passed the UPCAT; if already enrolled, must have carried a load of at least 15 units with no grade of "5.00" or unremoved "4.00" or "Inc." in the semester immediately preceding the application;
- must be financially needy (parents' gross income must be within STFAP brackets 1 to 4);
- must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action worse than a five-day class suspension including conditions C (4) and C (5);
B. BENEFITS:
Actual interest earnings but not to exceed P13,500 per semester. (Revised June 21, 1996)
C. TERMS:
Each grant is renewable every semester provided the recipient satisfies the following conditions:
- must have carried the normal load of 15 units and passed all subjects enrolled in the semester. Any grade of "4.00" or "Inc." must be removed on or before the last day for late registration of the immediately following semester.
- Must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action worse than a five-day class suspension.
- Must not transfer to another course or go on leave of absence without prior approval from the Office of Scholarships and Student Services.
- Must not have been found guilty of cheating or committing any act of dishonesty in relation to his studies.
- Must be willing to voluntarily report his grades (as certified by the College Secretary) to the donor at the end of each semester. This shall be a condition for the renewal of the scholarship.
D. ADMINISTRATION:
The Office of Scholarships and Student Services shall administer the study grants.
