PASUC SCHOLARSHIPS

Qualifications

An applicant for the scholarship must:

  1. Be selected by a screening committee of the member institution;
  2. Have the ability to carry on academic work in the university as indicated by the previous scholastic performance;
  3. Satisfy the admission requirements for the degree program
  4. Be physically fit for a serious study program as attested by a government physician;
  5. Be on study leave with pay from his institution;
  6. Not be more than 40 years old.

The nominees must have already been admitted to the college concerned before their recommendations are referred to the Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs (in UP Diliman) or his/her equivalent (in other constituent universities) that administers the scholarship program of the University.

The following system of priorities according to region shall be considered in awarding the grant:

  1. Eastern Visayas
  2. Mindanao
  3. Northern Luzon (especially CAR and Region 2)
  4. Western Visayas
  5. Bicol
  6. Others

Field of Study

The grant shall also be awarded according to the following system of priorities as to degree programs:

  1. Agriculture or Forestry
  2. Fisheries or Veterinary Medicine, Marine Sciences
  3. Education (including health and Physical Education)
  4. Engineering (Agricultural Engineering, Land and Water Resources Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Chemical Engineering)
  5. Science (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics)
  6. Social Sciences (History, Sociology, Political Science, Psychology)
  7. Arts and Letters (English, Filipino Language Teaching and Literature)
  8. Home Economics and Food Science

There shall be a total 12 full scholarships (6 slots for Master�s; 6 slots for Doctoral) in any given year and 24 slots for partial scholarships.

Benefits:
Full Scholarship

  1. Free school fees except student fund
  2. Monthly stipend of P1,600.00 for Master�s and P1,900.00 for Doctoral (including summer if required in the curriculum)
  3. Book allowance of P2,000.00 per semester
  4. Thesis allowance of P3,000.00 or dissertation allowance of P6,000.00

Partial Scholarship

Academic requirements and duration of the scholarship:

Each scholarship grantee shall carry a minimum of 9 units and a maximum of 12 units per semester.

The recipient must maintain an average of �1.75� or better for Master�s and Doctoral level and must have no grade of �Incomplete� or unremoved grade of �4.00�.

Each scholarship grant shall be for a period not exceeding:

  1. 2 � years including thesis for Master�s
  2. 4 years including dissertation for PhD

Return Service

A full scholar must sign a contract with his home institution to render a return service at the rate of two years for every year of scholarship enjoyed, or a fraction thereof but not less than two months. A copy of such contract must be submitted to the University Committee on Scholarships and Financial Assistance or equivalent office in the constituent university where the recipient is enrolled not later than two months following the date of first enrolment in the University of the Philippines. Failure to comply with this requirement shall constitute sufficient grounds for withdrawal of the scholarship award.

A partial scholar shall render one year of service for every year of scholarship.

Administration

Applications for PASUC Scholarship may be filed with any Dean but all of these must be coursed through the Office of Scholarships and Student Services for approval of the University Committee on Scholarships and Financial Assistance.

PASUC scholars should present a certification from the Office of Scholarships and Student Services before going for assessment.
