SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR ELEMENTARY AND HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS FROM LESS DEVELOPED PROVINCES IN THE PHILIPPINES

  1. Number of Scholarships: TWENTY (20) slots (1147th BOR Meeting, December 21, 2000), subject to the availability of funds.
  2. Qualifications: An applicant for the scholarship must:

    The recommendees must have already been admitted to the college concerned before their recommendations are referred to the Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs (in UP Diliman) or his/her equivalent (in other constituent universities) that administer the scholarship program of the University.

  3. Field of Study and Level: Any diploma or master�s degree program related to teaching offered in any of the constituent universities.

  5. Academic Requirements and Duration of the Scholarship:

    Each scholarship grantee shall carry a minimum of 9 units and a maximum of 12 units per semester.

    To maintain the scholarship, the recipient must maintain an average of �1.75� or better per semester and must have no unremoved grade of �Incomplete�. In case the recipient fails to maintain the grade requirement, the student will be given a probationary period of one semester but he/she has obtain a weighted average of at least �1.75� for that particular semester. Otherwise, the scholarship shall ipso facto be terminated (1078th BOR Meeting, June 23, 1994)

    Each scholarship shall be for a period not exceeding:

  6. Return Service

    A scholarship recipient must sign a contract with his home institution to render a return service at the rate of two years for every year of scholarship enjoyed, or a fraction thereof but not less than two months. A copy of such contract must be submitted to the University Committee on Scholarships and Financial Assistance or equivalent office in the constituent university where the recipient is enrolled not later than two months following the date of first enrolment in the University of the Philippines. Failure to comply with this requirement shall constitute sufficient grounds for withdrawal of the scholarship award.

  7. Administration: The scholarship program shall be administered by the Office of Scholarships and Student Services.
