On June 3rd, we arrived at the border. We rode hand in hand across the border. For us, it was quite a feat. We encountered many bears, pouring rain, mud roads and some very cold nights. Not to mention forest fires around Slave Lake. It seemed we were always one step ahead of the fires and the weather. We had a magical force behind us or with us, and we arrived safe and sound at this border, some 2600 kilometers from Winnipeg. We were going to spend a few days here unwinding, but a bear kept coming into our camp. Lesly put all the food supplies in the outhouse. So on June 4th, we planned to leave the border and travel 70 k to a campsite near Enterprise, NWT.
Orville Zaste, Alex and Luc MacCauley arrived at the border just as we were leaving. They had been on a whirlwind trip to Winnipeg and Vancouver respectively. Orville took some pictures so he could update the website and after a few hours they took off for Fort Simpson. Jerry and Lesly expect to arrive in Fort Simpson in about 7 days, way ahead of schedule. For people approaching their prime, it is quite good.
Below are some picture of the two cyclists at the border. Your page will probably load slow if you are using a 56 k modem, but the pics are worth waiting for. In particular, check out the gear. |
