The Hindu : National : CPI(M): SP’s volte-face on nuclear deal Online edition of India's National Newspaper Sunday, Aug 03, 2008 ePaper | Mobile/PDA Version National News: ePaper | Front Page | National | Tamil Nadu | Andhra Pradesh | Karnataka | Kerala | New Delhi | Other States | International | Business | Sport | Miscellaneous | Engagements | Advts: Retail Plus | Classifieds | Jobs | Obituary | National    CPI(M): SP’s volte-face on nuclear deal Special Correspondent NEW DELHI: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has said that the Samajwadi Party did a “complete volte-face” on the India-U.S. civilian nuclear deal, which enabled the Prime Minister and the Congress leadership to go ahead to the next stage of operationalising the deal. Till recently, the SP was firmly opposing the deal and Mulayam Singh, being the Chairman of the United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA), had issued statements against the deal. “The betrayal of their own stand and of the UNPA came along with their making a deal with the Congress. Cases against Mr. Mulayam Singh and Amar Singh and corporate interests were involved. Their other main concern was how to counter Mayawati and the Bahujan Samaj Party in Uttar Pradesh. They feared that in the given situation, the BSP would sweep the Lok Sabha elections. They also felt the necessity to get protection of the Central government from Mayawati’s attacks and cases against their leaders,” the CPI (M) said. In a note on the current situation and the party’s approach as approved by the Central Committee in its July 19-20 meeting, the CPI (M) said the Congress also realised that it would be liquidated in oblong face hairstyles U.P. if it fought alone. “This mutual need led to the understanding that the SP will support the nuclear deal and extend support to the government and they would work out seat sharing understanding in U.P,” it said. The Central Committee expected the Lok sex with baby face girl Sabha elections to be held along the north face solaris with elections in five States in November or December. It said that in the current political situation the party would have to work to isolate the BJP, which “spearheads the communal forces” and also oppose the Congress which had been instrumental in forging a strategic alliance with the U.S. “Our attitude to the other non-Congress parties and non-BJP parties will be determined by their attitude to the BJP jackson face shield or the Congress. We have to see what will be the relation of the UPA partners to the Congress,” the note, in its analysis, said. Simers August 3, 2008 Ten minutes into my first meeting with Manny Ramirez and he wants me to sit on his lap, and swelling of the face if Kevin Brown has learned to read by now, I'd love to see the expression on his face when he sees that. I skipped the fawning Manny media session Friday, arriving before Saturday's game to deal with the unpredictable one for the first time, knowing that he's already telling ESPNdeportes.com after one day on the job he wants to end his career with the Dodgers.   Manny Ramirez has deep oat face mask impact in victory Photos: Dodgers 4, Diamondbacks 2 Dodgers' Manny Ramirez plays to the cheap seats Andruw Jones needs a minor adjustment Scott Boras says no call was made "I really like it here, man," Ramirez says, and I wonder when he talks to female reporters if he says, "I really like it here, bleaches face cream woman." He says the Dodgers have a "great bunch of fantasy face smothering guys," and hylarnic acid face creams I don't particularly care for Curt Schilling either, so I know what he means. He says, "The guys here have received me bolt face conversion with open arms," and to demonstrate, stands up and hugs Mark Sweeney. It's the first contact the pinch-hitter has made in a long time, so I'm happy for Sweeney. I'm just a tad bit skeptical, and so I want to know if this euphoria is all about cashing in on a bigger payday, his departure from roman dog face fountain spout Boston allowing him to become a free agent at season's end. "I've already made $160 million," Ramirez says. "I like it here. I'm looking for peace." That certainly makes him the Parking Lot Attendant's favorite kind of player, I say, Frank McCourt probably more than happy to give him peace, so long as he doesn't have to pay him. Ramirez laughs and laughs. "Will you put a good word in for me?" he says, naples face care thermage juvederm florida but I have to let him wrestling face guard know I'm probably not the right guy for that job. For a second, I consider warning him about the ScreamingMeanie, but some things should just be experienced. It's easy to understand why Ramirez wants to play here -- if they're going to pay Andruw Jones $18 million a year, what might they pay someone who actually hits the ball? "Over here is different," he says in discussing the peace he has found here. "Over here, after the game, you can go to dinner and nobody bothers you." Someone asks about the difficult relationship he had with the Boston media, and I interrupt. "The media here is ctv game face video much nicer than what's in Boston." And he holds up his hands. "Wait, it's only been two days," he says, and he knows Plaschke better than I thought. Several L.A.-area reporters continue to pester him about Boston, and I fiend without a face say, "Who cares face skin conditions about Boston?" Ramirez loves it. "Come here and sit on my lap," he says, and I wonder what the newspapers' expense account policy is for tipping baseball players for lap dances. My buddy wants to move on, but there's one more question about Schilling's criticism of him. "Why am I going to waste my energy on what people say about me?" he says. "I just want to come here and play hard every game." I cannot help myself. "That's the knock on you. And you didn't look like you were playing hard on that ball hit to the wall Friday night," and he says, "That's a double; I'm not going to catch that." "Yeah, but you played it into a triple," I say, and with a laugh he replies, "Who do you think I am? Juan [Pierre]?"
