He worked the Southern Crescent betweem Birmingham and Atlanta. He retired sometime in the early 80's, and his son Ronnie is still employed by NS as a conductor on the West End District.
This is a local passenger train out of Christchurch, N.Z. to Lyttleton, N.Z. Notice the overhead wire. All of the trains on this run were electric as there was a long tunnel along the route. None of the locals on this route seemed to carry many passengers as the bus had made heavy in-roads here.
