Transmission Mediums

The transmission medium is the physical connection which interconnects the network nodes, allowing the user devices to send and receive messages. Generally transmission media can be classified into two categories : bounded and unbounded.
Bounded media include twisted pair, baseband and broadband coaxial cable, and fiber optic cable.
Unbounded media includes radio waves, microwaves, and infrared transmissions.
In general, most LANs uses bounded media.
