Lars contemplating on the sunrise.
Name: Lars Kolernan
Age: 25
Rank: Visekorporal (E3)
Service Branch: Royal Norwegian Haeren
Last Unit of Record: International Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol
Military Occupational Specialty: Jaeger

Description: Lars is a quiet, somewhat shy person. He keeps his emotions bottled up, with a very occassional outburst of temper. He follows orders and keeps his mouth shut. He is short and stocky, and is plain of face. He could easily be overlooked in a crowd.

Background: Lars was born and raised on the outskirts of Bergen, Norway, up on the Arctic Circle. His was a large family, and as the next-to-youngest, and a bit scrawny to boot, he was sometimes 'neglected.' His Family owned both a small dairy and a small fishing boat, but showing no aptitude for either business, nor being much of a student, it looked like a poor future for poor Lars, whose chief pleasure came in paddling his Kayak in the fiords and swift-running streams.... After dropping out of School, he enlisted in the Army. For the first time, he found he had a real aptitude for the skills of the Infantryman, and discovered that his natural reticence and closed-mouth obedience earned him praise instead of neglect. Not a natural leader, still he fit in with the team, and more than pulled his own weight.

When the war started, Lars was in a Jaeger unit assigned directly to NATO Headquarters in Belgium. His small unit was used as part of a composite special-forces "fire brigade," ending up fighting in almost every country in the ETO, almost always where the threat was greatest. A couple of months back, Lars was part of a small Long-Range-Recon-Patrol inserted behind enemy lines. After planting their assigned listening devices, the team was exfiltrating through Russian lines when sentries stumbled upon them. After 24 hours of near continuous fire-fight, Lars simply collapsed from exhaustion, falling into a deep sleep right in his fighting position. Hours later he awoke to find four Russian Infantryman gleefully eating the last of his rations and going through his pack... Needless to say, he was captured, and after a cursory interrogation, was shuttled through two POW holding pens, until he ended here at THE CAMP....
