The Pros & Cons of Owning Spiny Mice...
PROS:
No Odor What-so-ever!

Can Live in Groups- Sociable

Takes up little space

Affectionate and Doesn't Mind being handled (If you get them young)

Smart and Intellagent

Relatively Quiet (They don't make many vocalizations- only make noises of movement!)

They are hardey and don't have many health problems.

They averagely live up to 5 years!

They have small litters of around 2 pups every 6 weeks so they aren't as prolific as other rodents.

They are Unique!

CONS:
They are Escape Artists!

They are quick flighty and can jump really high!

They chew EVERYTHING- including water bottles and plastic cages (which they'll chew right out of)

Lone mice who are taken away from their herd before they are weaned often never can handle another cagemate.

Their tails can rip off if they get caught or if some one tries to pick them up by it.

They have a tendancy for obesety.

Getting an exotic vet who will treat these guys can be hard to find.
