| Welcome to the Rat colors Page! |
| These are in my opinion probably the most common rat colors I see. There are MANY other colors and variations so if you don't see what your rat is here feel free to e-mail me a picture or a descrption and I will see if I can tell you what he/she is. :) BLACK- Black is just black! Might have a redish tink or white ticking (see silvered) AGOUTI- The natural wild-rat color of our pet rat's ancestors. It's brown with white ticking mixed with black red, grey, blue, and/or other colors in a nice blend. GREY- grey can be a variety of colors from a dull pencil lead grey to something darker or lighter. do not confuse with blue. ALBINO- a rat with no pigment what so ever. Albino rats have totally pink tails, pink ears, nose and skin and have pink eyes. PEW- Do not confuse with albino. PEW stands for Pink-Eyed White but unlike the albino they may or may not have pigment on them like a brown tail. BEW- Black Eyed White. FAWN- a beautiful orangish color. BLUE- a grey color with a blue tint, much like a Russian Blue cat. There are many varieties of blue like Russian Blue, American Blue, etc. (light and dark) SILVERED- Any color of rat with white ticking in the fur, EXCEPT for agoutis. They are not considered ticked unless there is mosr white hairs mixed in than the rest of the colors. BLUE AGOUTI- An agouti rat with blue mixed in. TRI-COLORED- Tri-colored rats are INCREDIABLY RARE. They are hard to find and have 3 distinct colors on them. Often they are "Trimese" meaning they are white with a hood that is two colors as opposed to one. |
