Meet Jangles!
Jangles came to me from the Ark rattery. He was the last rat sold from that rattery as it closed down. He was already 2 months old then and HUGE for his age! He was an agouti berkshire Dumbo and he was boughten to be a cagemate for Bo. I thought Bo had just been afraid of Diddley but it turns out he didn't want a cagemate- period. He was terrified of him! So Jangles lived alone for awhile until I figured out what to do with him. Soon after he got really territorial and aggressive. The woman who bred him, had bred him mainly for a biology project and I am not so sure she knew totally about genetic aggression if she knew anything at all. Either way I was not warned and Jangles became a biter. He was OK out of his cage but if you put your fingers near his cage he'd draw blood.

It was suggested I neauter him too but at the time I had no money and not knowing about genetic aggression myself I wanted to sell him to a rattery who'd use him as a breeder because he was such a good dumbo. However I ended up keeping him... I never did neauter him and eventually in his old age he calmed down. Now he is semi-paralyzed. His back legs have no use at all but he seems happier than he has ever been in his life so putting him to sleep at the momment is not an option... I will update this page if anything changes.

Jangles has since passed away a little more than two weeks after he bacame paralyzed. He was happy and sprightly up until his death, September 20, 2001
Rest in Peace.
