We played a lot of music together as a trio but there just wasn't that much out there for two violins and a cello. We spent a lot of our time playing stuff that we'd arranged oursleves from other parts, to fit the instruments we had. Nick had been playing viola off and on for awhile, and sometime along the way, he fully switched. One day, we asked a violinist named Matt to play something with us because it was written for a quartet. We played together and it was awesome! We became a quartet and plan to stay that way for a very long time. After much debate, our very creative Nick came up with our name. The Orpheus Quartet. Orpheus is the Greek God of music... and that seemed pretty appropriate.
