MASTER THE HEART 92
There are disciplines for the mind, to still the war inside
Ways of calming thinking down from jealousy and pride
But crying out for sacrifice, returned always to start
Few have ever learned the skill of mastering the heart
We get broken by our longing, possessed by our own minds
Depending on the circumstance trapped by measured time
We find our strengths in harmony, no woman or man apart
But who's the master of his mind, or mistress of her heart?
And love defeats our logic and we trust in what it knows
Interpret dreams, attempt to fly above pain it overthrows
With all reason and our instinct, our inventions and our art
So few subdue the fire and master their own heart
Not much lives in shadow long, swallowed up outside
Some they drown at shallow ends, others follow tides
Meditate upon emotion, to exile within depart
Use the time alone to learn mastering your heart.
