KILLING LOVE 96

I stole some flowers from a cemetery
After breaking away from the hospital
Got married two years for sanctuary
And stayed on for the funeral
Avoiding doubt we don't discuss
We should have confronted it then
The easy lies we told ourselves
To put off the day again

And I'll take the blame-for mine was the fault
For breaking the glass and psychic assault
For now there is no sense, to the prayers we're calling
All our guardian angels are far too busy falling

The first to teach me intimacy
As I burned the bridge we built
Rage out in pain of impotency
And cripple the heart with guilt
Conspired against me in every way
As silences got stranger
And now my muse is sick today
In my lady's torture chamber

And only hanging saviours are watching from above
At you and I defacing music while we're killing love

Seems like I traded my being alone
For the lessons of this lonliness
My greatest work is only my own
A dead cold machine creating this mess
And so it is, with such regret
A numb farewell you'll soon forget
And at the time of writing this
I can't recall a greater bliss

And I'm unkind enough, to enjoy goodbye
You look so pretty whenever you cry

We saw the broken landing of the young and hunted dove
Shot down by the arrow of Cupid's mistaken love
And after all this time, she still bleeds out the pain
Because I thought I couldn't pay the cost of any chains.
