IN CONFESSION 92

Awake to dawn among the ashes
Laughing at your sanity
Lost in the morning, listening to rain
It's a temporary reality
Perfect in word and staying in character
One hand claps for the applause
The actress on the road always
One more stage with no encores

You open to ones who crucify
Reach for the love they all deny
A complex hammers the final nail
You do it because you' re scared to fail
And in confession and every day
I've heard it all in different ways
"There' s more to life than being alive
And I had to change just to survive"

I thought somebody was there but it's only myself
Moving past mirrors of somebody else

Over the edge and hand in hand
I wish I didn't understand
It means I've had the same thoughts too
It means I know what we will do
He had to take you prisoner
So he could say he set you free
And to the ones who we become
"I will protect us both from me"

Uneven symmetry but we still half rhyme
Love will take the pain in time
Moving past mirrors of somebody else
Why can't you just forgive yourself?
And in confession and every night
Nothing is changed that wasn't first right
Everyone's us under different names
But about us alone I will feel the same

Strangers taking our beauty, returning again
Turning again, as angels and friends.
