The idiot romantic watches as his sweetheart sours
Waiting for the words he knows will strip away his power
He tries persuade her back
With a shabby painted flower
And talks of optimism
To fill the empty hours
Surrounded by scrawled on papers looking for a song
Tuning up the New Idea then watching it go wrong
Romantic like a tragedy
The orphans led astray
With questions of their fortune
Clown shoes kick hats away
With violence in their comedy they tried escape in smoke
Until they were the only ones laughing with the joke
And in the scented hate mail burned
With passions unfullfilled
They can't forgive what they can’t forget
But regret the sense they killed
Easters turned to Halloweens and to a springclean kiss
She turned against his tyranny, filed him to Abyss
And so true love it was postponed
The verdict passed above
He'd blackened another friendship
With pure unholy love
They understand their punishment, the heart gets whipped again
Their lonely fast a nourishment between women and men
Now something has been broken
Like lost continents that drift
And each tear 's become a token
For their unwanted gift.
