GOING BLIND 92
Am going blind in
Frozen minutes
Wasted in a star age daze
Blasted down
Between the sparks
Burning out with
Cartoon heads
Electric thin
Held back by wire
Deja vu from dreams
In colder hours
With eyes eclipsed
Deja vu from dreams, cold
To darken out the soul
Spiked with ice and
Spiralwaves
Slowmotion
Infinities
Sight and thoughts
Drowned out by silent
Black and zero lines
Am going blind in
Frozen seconds
Sun in eyes, turned to stone
Needle light
Thorns the skin
Burning out in star age time
Sucked past lips
Of turning voids
Dizzy inside the
Whirlpool mouth
With eyes eclipsed
Held back by wire
Vanished forever
But for the black
Reach out to nothing
Disappear
Gone
Pinpoint lost.
/// I lost all sight three times that year. After
The Doors film –
(I had smoked dope in the cinema toilets, then drank whisky during
the show, beer in the Beehive pub - where I first went blind) After
smoking too much in the garden at Bushey, then coming inside, turning
on the bathroom light and nothing happened - cold sweat pumped the
terror out. The final time, after a session with Alan and Howard,
(another couple of brothers) climbing up the stairs into space and into
a child’s room that had luminous stars on the ceiling. I was told days
later, after I had left early in the morning, that I was expected to be
dead
the next day. I had thought this too. I have never mixed my intoxicants
since those times, although my innate maschochist stupidity has begged
me to.///
