| Canadian Participation. The Institutes will network with Canadian corporations, foundations, NGO�s, universities, and government entities. On a per capita basis, Canada received more immigrants than any other country n the world. As a result, about one in six Canadians is foreign born, double the figure in the U.S. The University of British Columbia now has half of its freshmen class defined as �Asian.� Such an ethnically diverse country and university may well embrace the Tendean Institute and become full partners in its creation. The Canadian Society for the Preservation of Cruelty to Children (CSPCC), located in Ontario, may be able to assist Orphans International with funding, volunteers and the placement of the Institute's orphans in Canada. The second largest Guyanese population outside of Guyana resides in Toronto; there are now more Guyanese in Canada and the States combined than in Guyana itself. Canadian Universities. McGill and the Universities of British Columbia and the Toronto each have strong Asian programs and will be asked to work with the Institute; each will be offered space in both the International Center and in the ethnological centers for working and living. There will also be small houses named after each of these universities. Canadian Cities. There will be small houses named for Vancouver, Toronto and Montr�al built on each campus. Networking with these municipalities will be a priority in seeking support for Orphans International. |
