Field report from Good Samaritan Orphanage, Dominican Republic
After a fun filled day at a beach about one hour from the orphanage, Marta and a few of the volunteers noticed a movie set and equipment being set up on the beach above them. Marta got to talking to a few people and volunteered the volunteers as extras in the movie. She negotiated this by turning down the usual paid fee that movie extras often get. After a round of signing papers waving the rights to everyone`s first born child, the deal was set. The crew and assistant directors met with Marta and the girls, who were so excited, and they were given their directions. It turned out that the movie needed a dance scene with a lot of good looking girls. Also they learned that the movie is to be an HBO special called Loved Wrecked. It took about two hours of setting up, but finally about twilight the girls and Marta trooped onto the beach and rehearsed their parts by going through the paces. After a few takes the scene and the film day wrapped up. Marta and the girls took a few pictures with the key people and returned to the bus for a one hour ride home. It was one of the most exciting days the girls could ever imagine and not a single person slept on the bus ride home.
