Borana, Oromo leader, former Provincial Governor of Borana Province in Southern Oromia, shot dead by the operatives of Tigray People's Liberation Front Ethiopian People's Democratic Front (TPLF/EPRDF) in Nairobi on 2nd July, 1992. The 10th anniversary of martyr Jatani Ali?s death was commemorated. TPLF mercenaries assassinated Jatani Ali in Nairobi, Kenya on 2nd July 1992. Jatani was born in 1941 to Borana-Oromo parentage at a place called Melbana in southern Oromia. He was an extraordinary public servant even through the most difficult times. He served our people with distinction. That is why he is one of the most beloved sons of Oromia and history will remember him in that light. TPLF decided to assassinate Jatani because of his involvement with and support of the Oromo cause. We all miss him deeply.
