7Up Bus Stop
When I was about five or six, my family used to go grocery shopping every Friday night as soon as my Dad would get home from work. We would go to the grocery and sometimes go out to eat at Kentucky Fried Chicken, then we would hurry up and get home so we could watch what was one of our favorite television shows at the time, The Incredible Hulk.

On our way home on this particular evening, we got about three miles from our house and saw an accident. We slowed down as we got to where it was, it was in the other oncoming lane, and there was a police car coming up so we just slowed down for a little bit. Trees lined both side of the road and we were just down from a couple of houses on either end. Right across the road from where this happened, right next to our car, were thick trees and what used to be a school bus stop that was a small wooden shack with an old 7 Up sign on the side of it. This was long overgrown and never used anymore. There was a man falling out of the driver's door of the car lying on the road with his upper body and torso and his head was broken open on top with what I assume were his brains leaking out.

Standing at the rear of the wrecked car was the man who was by all accounts lying dead on the ground, but he looked just fine, just standing there, looking down at his dead body. He looked over at us and waved and smiled like "Hey!" and then looked back down at the body on the ground that was his former earthly shell. He looked happy and kind of like, content or something standing there looking down at his own remains.

I watched out my rear window as long as I could see the scene unfold, the police pulling up...and then we went over a hill and I couldn't see anymore. We drove on home and I found out a few days later that my Dad worked with that guy at the lumber yard he worked for. That little patch of road next to the 7 Up bus stop on the way to my parent's house still gives me the creeps.
