Preparing You & your goat for fair |
||||||||
| You should be working all year round with your goat. If you spend at least 10 -15 minutes a day every day with your goat during the year, you will get them use to being around people. Don't forget you will be in a showmanship class and other people will be handling your goat. If your goat is not prepared to respond to someone else or you handling them, there is a chance that you may not get a placing that you would expect from showmanship. Remember that you should get your goat used to being touched all over. The legs, ears, the tail, udder, etc. Start learning the parts of the goat - you may be asked to point out parts of the goat in your showmanship class. Parts of the goat are listed on another page of this website. Brush your goat every day, this will bring out the Natural skin oils in their coat and make them nice and shiny. Make sure you are trimming hooves on a regular basis. The requirements for each goat type are listed in the Exhibitor and Parent guidebook |
