The 1999 Summer Squash League is a box
league consisting of two sessions. In a box league, everyone plays each person in his or
her box. Upon playing each person in the box, a session is complete. At the end of a
session, the person with the highest score in each box moves to the previous box, and the
person with the lowest score moves to the next box. Then a new session begins. The league
becomes a self-sorting ladder that also provides for new people to play each session.
The league is set up for each person to
play one match a week. A match is best three out of five games, with international scoring
(games to nine with only the server scoring points). The league establishes the opponents
for each weekly match, but it is the responsibility of each person to schedule, play and
mark their score. The weekly score sheets will be posted by Court #1. Record the number of
games won. For example, the winner will always record 3, and the loser will record 0, 1,
or 2. A week runs from Monday until Sunday evening. On Sunday evening the weekly score
sheets will be collected and the league score sheet will be updated. League matches can
NOT be made up at a later date, but may be played early.
Session 1 starts on Monday, May 10 th .
After Session 1 there will be a one-week break and then Session 2 will start. New league
participants may be added at the break between sessions. The adding of new league
participants will impact the movement of the previous session participants to new boxes.
Also, players not completing their scheduled matches will impact scoring within each
session. The impact of new players and players not finishing their scheduled matches, will
be decided based on each unique situation. After the number of participants for Session 2
is set, the league ending date can be determined.
A league PARTY will be arranged after the end of Session 2. Since no
money was collected for the league, each participant will pay for his or her own
refreshments. Prizes have been donated by Black Knight and will be
awarded.
