A Hobbit of the Shire, Meriadoc was the son of Saradoc Brandybuck. In his youth he was a close friend of Frodo (and was until the end of his days) and so accompanied him in the Fellowship. He travelled with them until he and Peregrin were captured by orcs at Parth Galen. Later they escaped to Fangorn Forest and became friends with Treebeard(aka Fangorn) the Ent. Meriadoc later became a Rider of Rohan when he came into Theoden King of Rohan's service and travelled with Theoden to Edoras as his esquire. Later he rode secretly with Eowyn to Gondor and helped slay the King of the Nazgul. After the War of the Ring Meriadoc was knighted for his bravery and returned to the Shire. When his father died, Meriadoc became Master of Buckland until he resigned his post in FA64 and went with Peregrin to Gondor and Rohan and died a year later. |
