We are pleased to announce that our 3rd ORIYA SAMMILANI will be held at Queensland on 15th and 16th April, 2006 (during Ester  Weekend) for one and  half days.

We promise you a colorful and memorable affair full of fun and frolic!

Queensland is the sunshine state of Australia with beautiful beaches, scenic landscapes and vibrant cities.  There are plenty of activities to do; from surfing to snorkeling, whale watching to bird feeding, scuba diving to bungee jumping. We seek your active co-operation to make this event a grand success.

 

VENUE:

The Conference venue is located at ‘Redcliffe’. Redcliffe is a picturesque seaside city nestled on the edge of beautiful Moreton Bay; it is just 35 minutes drive from Brisbane city, 20 minutes drive from Brisbane Airport, 45minutes drive from Sunshine Coast and 90 minutes drive from Gold coast. Safe, sandy beaches and scenic parks span Radcliff’s 22km of glorious coastline, which is also dotted with the rocky red headlands that give the city its name.  Redcliffe's stunning views of Moreton Bay, Hays Inlet and the Glasshouse Mountains are also something to be savoured. From Brisbane, take the Gateway Arterial north then continue straight along the Deagon Deviation and across the Houghton Highway Bridge.   Alternatively, you can take the Anzac Avenue exit from the Bruce Highway.

ACCOMODATION:

To book your accommodation (with the group), at the conference venue, please contact the Hotel directly and pay. The tariffs seem to be reasonable i.e. $60.00 per single person per day and $80.00 per family with up to two kids. There are separate weekly specials for your consideration. All rooms are air-conditioned and have colour TV, mini-fridge and walk-in-robes. This special price includes continental breakfasts everyday. Please book early, preferably from next week because of the festive seasons. The person to contact is Ms Debbie Aitken (07 3284 2281). Alternatively you can book in any other Hotel as per your wish by calling Redcliffe Visitor Information Centre on 1800 659 500.

 

TRANSFERS:

We expect that you will rent or arrange a car, to give you flexibility to do the sight seeing.

 

FOOD:

There’ll be options of Indian and non-Indian dishes for your selection including some Oriya Specials. Please indicate whether you are a flesh-eater! The cost of food is included in the registration fees.

 

FUN:

We are organizing different competitions among kids and adults. Cultural activities like PALA, JATRA and NRUTYA will make you remember smell of our MATI. We are also proposing KHO-KHO, KABADDI or PUCCHI matches. There will also be some brain teasing activities to give your graying GRAY MATTERS a bit of exercise. As the venue is adjacent to the sea, please come prepared to be drenched. To prevent your self being roasted by SURYA DEVATA, please pack your sunglasses, hats and sunscreen. There will be attractive prizes for winners and LOSERS, too.  A challenge to your foot tapping skills is expected.

 

WARNING:

Please get your Heart and Ears tuned as we expect some high voltage music!

 

SIGHT SEEING:

As it is expected that you will come here to enjoy this paradise, we will try to squeeze in some time for sight seeing for the interstate people. If you want to visit more places please have some more time in your hand and more money/plastics in your pocket.

 

BUDGET:

Although we would have much loved to do this for free, considering all the expenses involved we expect a small amount as the registration fees. These are provisional rates, there is a possibility of change (increase or decrease) depending upon the number of the participants.

 

The tentative rates (Includes registration, catering and miscellaneous expenses and excludes accommodation and transport) are:

 

Single -$100.00; Couples- $150.00; Couples with kids-$200.00.
