ABOUT THIS SITE AND ITS AUTHORS
The primary objective of this site, and one which
will take a lifetime or two to complete (if it can
ever be completed) is to provide a free and easily
accessible source of general biographical details for
the serious researcher, family members tracing their
geneology, and anyone else wishing to learn more
about the men and women who served on the "other
side" in the Second World War. I developed this
interest when I was eight-years-old, at a time when
my only resources consisted of "Hogan's Heroes reruns
and "Sgt. Rock" comic books. Rest assured that those
resources are not part of my current research.
A work of this kind is easily subject to
misinterpretation,
so I feel I must emphasize that I am strongly opposed
to
the philosophies of Nazism, racism, and a great many
other
"-isms." Neo-Nazi types, though welcome to peruse
the
site, should be advised that I'm not here to champion
their
cause. Many unsavory and downright awful characters
will appear in these pages, but I leave it to the
reader to
decide whatever labels they deem appropriate.
Hopefully it
will also be readily evident that there are decent
and
heroic people listed as well, serving and defending
their
country just as any decent person would in a time of
national crisis. In any case, my task is simply to
provide
their names, their details of service, their
significant
deeds, and any other facts in as objective a
manner
as possible.
Thanks for visiting.

I first became interested in
the operations of the German forces during World War
II about twenty years ago when I picked up Hitler
Moves East by Paul Carell and couldnt put it
down until I had finished reading it. It seemed to
me that the Germans had come quite close to victory
in WW II before the United States even entered the
war, and I immediately wanted to know more about the
military machine that had so nearly pulled that off.

Uriol, Daniel
Carlos Prez
(1976 - )
My name is Daniel Carlos Prez Uriol and I was born
in Madrid (Spain) on February 2nd, 1976. I am
currenty studying Neuropsychology at the University
of Madrid and will finish my studies next year. I
have always been interested in history in general and
WW2 History in particular. Three years ago I started
a project of compiling biographies of the 10.000 most
decorated Axis soldiers of World War 2, a project
that I am thinking of upgrading to 12.500
biographies. So far, I have completed more than
6.000, and plan to finish it by next year (hopefully
;-) ). This project will result in a book, or a
CD-ROM that I would like to sell and promote on-line.
Because of my interest, I have over than 600 books on
the German sie in World War 2. I am very glad to
participate in this project. I am currently in
Germany keeping on with my studies and collecting
some information from the libraries and archives that
are not accessible in Spain.
Vanhassel, Thomas
b. 1983, Flanders (Belgium)
My interest in military history began at 7 year, when I received a book about the last battles in Germany. Since then I have contributed information to various instances and people, but being invited to join the A.B.R.-staff was a next step in professional work. Much gratitude goes to Mr. Mike Miller for allowing me to contribute. My main field of work is the (Flemish) Waffen-SS, its officers and cult (marriage, funeral et cetera), 'esprit de corps' and the subsequent development into a multi-national fighting force in the cadre of the second World War. Further interests are military history 1939-1945, i.e. the many campaigns and their results on the battlefield, leaders and people involved in the war. As a member of several veteran organisations of the former Waffen-SS, I have archived a lot of information, which is currently being used for an own line of works.
