*Hitler categorically demanded Sevastopol to be held. Jaenecke, Schrner, Zeitzler & Allmendinger all tried in vain to sway Hitler from his Halt-Order
*Jaenecke sent a telex intended for Hitler to the Army-Group, Schrner passed it on to Fhrer-Headquarters immediately. Jaenecke categorically demanded at least one of the two promised divisions for reinforcement, in addition he wanted 'Freedom of Action'. Jaenecke was instructed to Report to Hitler (27 Apr 1944-29 Apr 1944)
*Flew to Berchtesgaden. Jaenecke wrote a letter to Hitler after their meeting, in which he did not hold back his critisism of the Fhrer. On the return flight he was intercepted at Galatz and placed before a Court Martial. Guderian recieved the Special Task from Hitler to examine the case. Amongst other accusations, Hitler made Jaenecke solely responsible for the loss of the Crimea. Senior Party Officials encouraged Hitlers suspicions. By delaying his handling of the investigation, Guderian managed to save Jaenecke and obtain an acquital, although Hitler wanted a scapegoat for the loss of the Crimea and Jaenecke was retired (29 Apr 1944-31 Jan 1945)
