Postwar Prosecution:
Imprisoned by Dutch authorities after the war, he escaped in 1947 and was recaptured. He was subsequently charged with active military collaboration; prosecution demanded he be sentenced to 8 years' imprisonment. Sentenced to six years, he was released in 1949 after serving less than two.

Ritterkreuz des E.K.: 20. Feb. 1943 as SS-Sturmmann & Geschützführer in 14./SS-Freiw.Legion "Nederland", Northeastern Front (for destruction of 13 Soviet tanks in a single day during the second battle of Lake Ladoga);
